This beanie is soft and comfortable, while still having the "burly fisherman" look I was going for. It feels like it should hold up better than a few of the softer beanies I own. I might have to buy another one!

Smaller, cheaper and too loose of a knit for a winter beanie

I love this hat and I am not a hat wearing person. But when it is cold out side this hat does the trick. Nice tight fit and very warm.

I have several beanie style winter caps. Most of them are short and ride up over my ears, which is not what I want in cold weather. I thought if the cap were long enough I could fold it over my ears and it would stay in place. This cap mostly works that way. It does ride up over my ears, but not nearly as much as caps that do not fold down. Although this cap has a heavy, cable weave, it is still loose enough to allow the wind through. I solved this by wearing a thin runner's cap as a liner. Then, it is warm. This is not the perfect winter hat, but, like I say, it mostly works.

I purchase the orange colored one and it had a defective seam (at the far left of the image). I did not notice this when ordering the item but all of them, except the navy color, appear to have that problem. Bottom line, it looks funny and I returned mine.

A nice thick beanie. I bought in the orange color and it's very attractive. My only complaint is the tag was sewn rather closely to the seam, so it lays a little oddly on your head. Still adorable, and might just be a defect on mine.

I liked the two tweed versions of this hat so well I bought one of these in navy. Like the tweeds it's exactly as the description says: warm, thick-knit yarns. They're listed as acrylic, but this one feels more like a cotton yarn. It's an average size hat that stretches easily to fit my larger head without feeling snug or looking goofy. The navy color is a little bit drab, again that possibly cotton yarn. Acrylic yarns tend to have a tiny bit of luster to them. I really like the wide headband, as it adds symmetry to an older round face and keeps it from looking like an upside-down ice cream cone. : )
