I recently gave the Eagle Creek 2-in-1 backpack to a student as a graduation gift. She was delighted.

I really like this pack. Just the quality I have come to expect from Eagle Creek. Ideal for stuffing extra rain gear or jacket and tablet while on day trips. I would say good for carrying up to 10-12 #. Great price from STP!!

For some reason I thought that the bottom could be zipped off and both backpack and fanny pack could be used separately. The backpack has to be stuffed into the fanny pack and therefore the fanny pack has little room for anything else. This would be great for traveling and buying things at the deli for a picnic or shopping for purchases to take back to the hotel or cruise ship. It is not for day trips hiking when you need to pack water or other heavy items. It is well made, very light and packable as an extra source to carry things.

Seems like it'll be great as a lightweight extra backpack (kind of strange looking when in lumbar pack mode). Even though it's suppose to pack into it's own pouch, it was pretty hard to stuff it all in the pouch & the zipper on pouch seemed very strained so I probably wouldn't pack it down smaller than the lumbar pack size.

Good quality. Probably would not use as a fanny pack as it's very bulky looking.

The The Eagle Creek 2-in-1 backpack in my opinion is best suited for a change of clothes and maybe a beach towel. Eagle Creek makes quality products, however I did return this backpack because it was not something I would use.

Very nice for travel or as a day pack when backpacking. Although it could be used as a hip pack or a back pack, it is really better designed for use as a backpack that can be folded into a small and lightweight package to store in a larger suitcase or pack when traveling. There is a small amount of padding on the straps that is useful, but this type of bag is not designed for real heavy loads.

So far - zippers and material seem pretty tough for the VERY light weight nature of this pack. Seems like solid construction too. For under fifteen dollars I paid - it's a dandy pack. Not sure I'd want to pay much more though, It is a little smaller than I expected. Back panel is only 10.5 inches wide by 20 inches tall. Lightly padded and slightly curvy straps are about 1.5 inches wide. Main compartment just a bit bigger than a big pound or maybe pound and half size bag of potato chips. If you're a big guy, or wearing bulky clothes, it might be hard to use - BUT it DOES pack down small or VERY small - so should be great for an "extra" pack. When fully expanded, it has an interior pocket at the top - handy for keeping wallet/phone etc easy to access - which the whole pack can be stuffed into for storage. You can also stuff the main back pack into the top of the waistpack - and still have the whole waistpack open and easy to use. While not really big enough for serious dedicated shopping trips - it should be great for taking out when I want to travel light - but still have potential to pack some stuff home if it turns up fortuitously!
