Warm and comfortable. 6'3"/205 and XL was big on me (especially around the gut). Didn't have the color I wanted in Large, so I exchanged. Shell is pretty thin - not sure I would not rely on it as an outer layer if it would come into contact with anything hard (rocks, trees, mothers-in-law, etc).

I bought this jacket on impulse because it was something like 90% off. I don't know that I'd pay full blown retail for it (I'm cheap) but this has quickly become one of my favorite jackets. Tried it out on a pre-dawn trudge up the Maroon Bells in early september. Holy cow it was far warmer that I expected, blocked wind well, fit great for layering, and was pretty lightweight with good compressibility. It's a baggy fit, but with drawcord hem, who cares.

I ordered two of these. One for my husband and one for my son. They wear them everyday right now and will be a great layer under their ski shell. I got an XL for my 6' 200 lb husband, fits perfect with a little room but doesn't look baggy. My son is 5'8 and the large is bit big but will also be perfect for layers underneath and another year in it. They both love the coat! Best price on an item yet!

This jacket fits true to size and is perfect for the upcoming fall weather here in Utah. I would say 32 to 50 degrees would suit this jacket comfortably

I bought this jacket based basically on the discount, and after receiving it was very pleased with my purchase. Comfortable, stylish, warm and water repellant. Looking forward to using it this winter.

Minimalist design with 2 zip side pockets and light weight. Material and workmanship is very good. The small size is form fit (comfortable) for 5'6", 142 lbs. If you are at the upper end of your size, expect a snug fit. Layering under my shell jackets is perfect. There's enough room to comfortably wear a light mid-layer under it. Keeping warm should not be an issue. I also tried the lightweight version (returned) which fit very tight around the shoulders, this is much better and it's a keeper. Hope it helps. BTW, it used to be difficult for me to find decent small size jackets in any retail store but STP has helped me put that issue to rest. No more wasted trips to the stores. Thanks STP.

It is very light weight and seems easy to pack, and it should has a great weight/warmth ratio. On the other hand, it looks not quite magnificent as it's original price(US$280). Of course, it is very valuable on its big sale price from Sierra.
Happy to keep it as a packable jacket when traveling.

I purchased this jacket, took it out of the box to try it on, wore it around my house for ten minutes, and put it right back in the box. It is built cheap - single stitching, doesn't breathe. It claims to be perfect for layering, but it is far too unfitted and baggy (even with the shoulders fitting perfectly at the seam) to layer under anything and keep any kind of mobility.

I was told by Sierra Trading Post that I would be able to get a full refund back to my credit card despite their return policy which states different, even in the case of a not-as-described item. I will update back if this does not go as promised. I ordered another Mountain Hardwear, as I have been impressed with two in a row from them; I just wanted to give another, lesser known company a chance. Bad first impression.

Nice lightweight jacket, very warm for the thickness of insulation. Has an athletic cut, close fitting at the hem, but roomy enough elsewhere for an extra layer. Started out a bit tight in the shoulders, but loosened up quickly. The fit is similar to an x-c ski or running jacket, looser than a bike jacket, definitely not super roomy. Fairly wind resistant, won't replace a good low temps jacket but is fine for most conditions.
The collar stands up nicely and is tall enough to eliminate the need for a neck gaitor in most conditions.
I'm 5'10'' and 170 lbs, medium fits perfectly; go up in size if a loose fit is what you want.
