I use SA tippet especially with multiple flies attached to my leader. The 4X and 5X are what I use most. Because with multiple flies tangling and snagging are common, I often lose much tippet. The SA spool offers a bit more line than others and lasts a bit longer.

Fluorocarbon tippet is excellent for nymphing because it sinks faster than nylon and is more abrasion resistant. I also like fluorocarbon because it seems to be more resilient. Sometimes after executing a clinch knot with smaller nylon tippet I get little curly cues in the line. (Yes, I always wet the knot) I've never seemed to have this problem with flouro. The downside to this tippet is, it can be expensive. I always try to stock up on a few spools when STP has it.

I bought 3 spools of this. First trip out, I kept loosing flies and breaking off for a couple of hours...finally realized I was using my "new" SA tippet. I went back to my other tippet and didn't have another problem the rest of the day. I returned them all. I have never had bad tippet before buying this stuff. I know SA makes good stuff...but at least one of the spools I bought was really bad.

Bought this as stocking stuffers for family members. We really like the strength and small diameter.

This product seems to be least I have had no problems with it yet. I have heard that tippet and leaders should be dated like food items (Best used by...) and that if your material is more than 3 years old you should replace it. I sure would hate to lose the fish of a lifetime because the line was rotten. But on the other hand, most of my break-offs have been due to weak or faulty knots - not the line actually breaking. Great price on this product and worth trying.

This tippet worked great for native fish. Never felt like it was going to break on me. Loved having the cutter on the spool too.

Scientific Anglers Fluorocarbon Tippet material is the best on the market! I have used it for years, and it is great for all saltwater applications. I generally fish for Redfish on the Texas Coast, and can use a heavier tippet with fluorocarbon, since it is basically invisible in the water. SA's addition of the built in line cutter on the spool is a great time saver. Overall, a great product. Sierra Trading Post's price can't be beat as well!!
