Giro Fathom Bike Helmet (For Men and Women)

Closeouts. We don't ride for comfort. If we wanted that, the couch feels much better than the bike seat. The Giro Fathom bike helmet brings just enough comfort to the ride with a breathable 23-vent design. It'll keep you cool while your legs burn and your lungs gasp for air.

Giro once again hits the mark for comfort, style, and protection with the Fathom. Like it's predecessor the Atmos, The Fathom combines a light weight body with adjustments to dial in a tight fit, plenty of vents for cooling, fashionable styling, and low overall weight into a single product. Could not be happier with this helmet.

This is a nice helmet, identical to the Giro Atmos II road helmet but with a visor. You can remove the visor and the helmet comes with two plugs to pop into the hemet to cover the anchor holes. I've owned both the red and flame (orange) colors but like the orange color better because of its matt finish and it looks cooler (in my opinion and if you like bright colors). I take away one star due to Giro's Roc Loc 5 retention system which seem very flimsy and is easily broken. So take care tightening and loosening the helmet once its on your head. Otherwise very comfy and light, once its on your head - you'll forget it was there!

I got the bright orange for my commute. Fits well and stands out.

The helmet seems to be of really good build, good weight and good style. But the strap/retention system is horrible. It took me 2 hours to fit and never fit just right.

Bought this in red and was disappointed to see the visor is matte shade of orange that is slightly different from the bright (almost orangish) shiny red of the helmet. Could live with that if the straps were comfortable. Despite multiple attempts at adjustment, they would not lay flat against my skin and had an irritating twist to them. I'm at the top end of the medium range and the helmet sits a bit high on my head.

It appears to very well constructed, with good padding and should have good ventilation. It's fairly light weight (I'm probably spoiled coming from my Specialized S3 which is about 50 grams lighter) and comfortable aside from the straps. I'd consider ditching the visor and using it just as a road helmet, but the twisted straps are a deal breaker.
