  • Too Low Cut

I love Royal Robbins - they make practical clothes for those of us who are past the beautiful youth years. So I was SURE these pants would be perfect. The material was fine - not dressy, but a cotton twill look that is passable for travel and every day life. BUT - they are really short through the rise in front - I have a short waist, and these still hit me substantially below the belly button! The back side is much higher - but honestly, I would rather not have my belly hanging over my pants. So they went back.

If you don't mind the short rise, everything else is OK - they fit true to size - I am a 4/6 and got small. If they had an extra inch or two in the front rise, I would have kept them. Oh well...

My friend has helped me modernize my wardrobe, in getting me to wear skinny jeans. However, I feel self conscious about my upper thighs (not model thin) & a bigger bottom. My friend LOVES these pants on me, and I do, too! They are slimming and stretchy with pockets on the back, that manage to look slimming and hug one's figure, but not showing-off everything in an unflattering way. So, it's the right balance of tightness w/o revealing everything you may not want to show. I'm 5' 7" 155 lbs and the medium (regular length) fits me great. There is not a draw string but belt loops. Oh, and these pants are high quality, too, which I really like.

About Royal Robbins

By the late-1960s, veteran Yosemite rock climber Royal Robbins and his wife Liz had grown tired of wearing cutoff jeans on the crag. At the time, apparel designed specifically for outdoor adventure was virtually non-existent. After years of wishing for something better, the couple finally decided to create their own, starting with a pair of climbing shorts called the “Billy Goat.” This was the beginning of Royal Robbins’ clothing revolution. Today, nearly 50 years later, Royal Robbins outdoor clothing is as rugged and reliable as ever. When you buy a Royal Robbins sweater or shirt, or a Royal Robbins pair of pants or shorts, you can bet it will fit great, whether you’re climbing in the Sierra Nevadas, camping in the backcountry or relaxing in your own backyard.
