I bought this shirt for my husband and he was initially underwhelmed with it. He quickly discovered the pattern/color choice he would never have picked for himself worked well while wearing. It is a great match (not clash) to both beige and khaki shorts. The most important fact is the comfort factor of this 100% cotton shirt. The weave is classy and makes for great comfort. Laundry is a snap. I used cold water and put it in the dryer for 3 minutes and then hung to dry. The shirt was softer but unwrinkled and still looked brand new.

Royal Robbins button up short sleeve shirts size large have always fit me in the past. But this shirt was way way too small across the shoulders and back. At first I thought it was mis-sized, then I looked at the tag and it said "Contemporary Fit" or something like that. I've had similar problems in the past with other brands by accidentally getting shirts called "Tailored Fit", "City Fit", "Cosmopolitian Fit" etc. or something of that nature, but never before with Royal Robbins. All I can figure is that shirt designers think that contemporary men who live in cities or who use tailors have grossly underdeveloped torsos.

You can't see it in the picture but the shirt has a nice, subtle tone-on-tone texture. Fits great and looks great throughout the day.
    • Best Uses: Casual, Every day, Vacation
    • Pros: Comfortable, Good Fit, Good Looking

It (they - I bought three) are nice. Material is a bit thin. Why there is no pocket I don't understand, nor why the buttons are so small although it did cross my mind maybe they were trying to save manufacturing costs. It may also explain why the material is so thin - I mean you can see through it ! Would I recommend to a friend? Maybe yes, maybe no.
    • Cons: Buttons too small, Difficult to button, No front pocket, No laundering insts
    • Pros: Feels good

About Royal Robbins

By the late-1960s, veteran Yosemite rock climber Royal Robbins and his wife Liz had grown tired of wearing cutoff jeans on the crag. At the time, apparel designed specifically for outdoor adventure was virtually non-existent. After years of wishing for something better, the couple finally decided to create their own, starting with a pair of climbing shorts called the “Billy Goat.” This was the beginning of Royal Robbins’ clothing revolution. Today, nearly 50 years later, Royal Robbins outdoor clothing is as rugged and reliable as ever. When you buy a Royal Robbins sweater or shirt, or a Royal Robbins pair of pants or shorts, you can bet it will fit great, whether you’re climbing in the Sierra Nevadas, camping in the backcountry or relaxing in your own backyard.
