And that being said, not really a jacket...more of a fashion accessory. It's whisper-lightweight and quite see-through, especially in white. It runs small...I had to exchange a large for an extra-large for proper torso fit, although the sleeves and shoulders are a bit loose in the XL. Also the sleeves are not overly long for the size. I will probably wear them rolled up anyway. BUT...styling details are cute and it is well-made, and a perfect summer accessory. But again...more for looks than function!

This is the second time I have purchased this jacket. I first purchased it at full price from an outdoors store a little over a year ago prior to a canoe trip to the Boundary Waters. I wear it everywhere - for walking, hiking, yoga classes, to the grocery store, around the house. Looks great with yoga pants and that casual little knit skirt or skort. It packs well - might look wrinkled when you first unpack it but wrinkles "hang out" quickly even as you wear it (even from a compression sack!). Great quality and love the pockets! Love the SPF factor and that sleeves roll up to elbow with button tab. I'm 5'4", 130 lbs and have a M and a S. The S is a little small through the chest (34 D), but perfect everywhere else.

This is a nice sun protective, light weight jacket but the small is at least an extra small, if not smaller. I also ordered the ExOfficio hooded jacket & the extra small in it was perfect for me. I have never ordered Royal Robbins brand before so I cannot say if this sizing is a problem for all their clothing, but certainly for this item it is unfortunately not true to size. The color was also very nice, although not real practical. So I will stick with the ExOfficio spf jackets.

I garden for a living, and wear this shirt in the sun and heat, especially when there isn't a cloud in the sky, and no breeze. When it is really hot, I spray down this shirt and get instant air conditioning. It dries much faster than a cotton shirt would. I do prefer the white one I purchased last year, but it certainly has gotten permanently dirty! This is a nice color, but might be a bit less cooling than the white; however, that might be my imagination. The hood protects my neck against insects such as deerflies and greenheads. I really like the design of the cuffs, which are longer along the top of the hands, a terrific detail. Despite the size chart which indicates I should wear a Large, my older ones are XL, and that size fits me better than the L, since I want it to be loose for my purposes. The fabric does snag and pill a bit, but I couldn't care less since I have never found a better fabric for working in the sun, and I have tried a bunch of others.

About Royal Robbins

By the late-1960s, veteran Yosemite rock climber Royal Robbins and his wife Liz had grown tired of wearing cutoff jeans on the crag. At the time, apparel designed specifically for outdoor adventure was virtually non-existent. After years of wishing for something better, the couple finally decided to create their own, starting with a pair of climbing shorts called the “Billy Goat.” This was the beginning of Royal Robbins’ clothing revolution. Today, nearly 50 years later, Royal Robbins outdoor clothing is as rugged and reliable as ever. When you buy a Royal Robbins sweater or shirt, or a Royal Robbins pair of pants or shorts, you can bet it will fit great, whether you’re climbing in the Sierra Nevadas, camping in the backcountry or relaxing in your own backyard.
