Verified Buyer Reviewed by Fishing geek from Colorado on Tuesday, March 28, 2017I have not had a chance to use this product yet. I've put it on my reel so far so good. Will update once I try it out.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Don from Florida on Friday, March 24, 2017Great line at a great price from STP. Another nice closeout value. Line works great on my Redington 6wt Voyant rod...also a great deal from STP
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Asarkozy from Colorado on Wednesday, March 22, 2017I've used these fly lines in all my reels and I find they perform very well for me, the line turns over easily on a long dry or a short nymph cast and slips through guides with ease. The two tone color with the bright tip is a lot easier for me to see and track. I've had the WF5F in an Orvis reel for a few years and see no need to replace it, even the color hasn't changed much after a few years.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Rod Barnes from Nebraska on Tuesday, April 19, 2016This line casts and floats well. At the STP price, I bought 2. With my 8wt rod, I can cast a heavy streamer a country mile.

“Is this line WF "Floating"?”
Yep it is a standard weight forward taper. I believe the line is made by Rio for Sage. Casts well on my med-fast 5wt.
Yes it is.
Yes, this line is WF floating.
“What is the recommended backing knot for connection to the initial (not the leader connection end) loop of the fly line”
If I am understanding your questions correctly, I would recommend the Albright knot. Hope this helps.
Personally, I would cut off the built-in loop and connect through a trusty old nail knot. However, if you want to preserve the fly-line loop, I would suggest using a "surgeons end loop" on your backing.
