Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Salewa RapaceVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mikey P from Vail Valley, Colorado on Wednesday, January 24, 2018I bought these to replace my beloved Montrail Torre GTX. I had 4 pair of those before Columbia bought and discontinued. Nice narrow fit. True to size. Sturdy construction. Comfy out of the box and break in nicely. Definitely recommend Snow Seal to keep outer dry in slushy corn snow and thus, boot breathable. (Another reviewer didn’t and returned and awesome boot.) The boot is definitely waterproof, but after the outer is saturated, your sweat isn’t going anywhere. Any natural leather boot needs the be sealed, in my opinion- especially on snow. Probably not for wider feet and I’d go with a synthetic (ie Raven) if your mixed terrain is mostly wet snow. Solid 3 season boot.
Great textile bootsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from eastern TN on Sunday, May 28, 2017Good sturdy textile boot. I wear an 11 1/2 C. For wider feet, the toe box may be a bit narrow. Inside, the floor of the boot is flatter than a typical off the shelf boot. I use Sole inserts which are perfect in this boot because this flatter floor. I saw complaints about waterproof issues. I put them in a container of water; no leaks. Have yet to try in wet outdoor conditions. I've been breaking them in on short walks around my home and in the Smoky Mountains. They really require little break-in, but I've been testing them on different terrains. Overall, it's a moderate hiking boot; just what I needed; my other boots are good Italian mountain boots which are sometimes just to heavy.
So not waterproof!Reviewed by James in Tahoe from Tahoe on Sunday, April 30, 2017The fit on these is perfect, but they are not remotely waterproof. It's spring corn season in Tahoe, which means you're feet are covered in wet snow. I've worn these three times now and they are not remotely waterproof. They have to go back.
Excellent lightweight bootVerified Buyer Reviewed by Boon from Colorado on Thursday, April 27, 2017These boots have one of the best fits for an alpine boot that I have tried. I know that boot fit is very personal though. While the boots look super narrow, I have found that they just hug my foot well and still have ample room in the toebox. This is huge for me as I usually have to buy a boot that is a smaller size so my foot doesnt slop, but end up with toe rub. Not with these. Break in has been the easiest I have had for any boot too. I just hope they hold up to the harsh conditions I will subject them to in the backcountry. These are my elk boots and I am never on the trail, or in flat areas. Here's to hoping!
Good...So FarVerified Buyer Reviewed by thecanadian from Wisconsin on Monday, April 10, 2017If you are looking for out of the box comfort, these will surly disappoint. I have had these for a couple of weeks now and they are just starting to get broken in, so be forewarned they take a bit of time before they feel 'right' on your foot.
They have a comfortable amount of flex without being too rigid.
lacing system allows very snug fit all the way out to the toe box. I'm pretty doubtful I will ever loose a toenail in these.
Rock climbing ability is o.k. These edge and grip well, but lack the feel for anything more then sustained class 4.
Its fairly difficult to get the laces tight out to the toebox
There were a number of places where it puts pressure and rubs wrong out of the box. These have started to go away as the boot has broken in
The boot needs better insoles. Without a thicker sock, there inst much in the way of padding. This hasn't been a problem on the softer trails around me, but I wouldn't want to wear them all day over concrete.
