Buy a larger sizeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Jack BiG BOX Worker/Walker from Texas on Wednesday, August 2, 2017The shoe look and feel well made, the have a good sole and material used is first rate.
The shoes run small and I could not wear them and the return process was easy to use and went very smooth.
I would recommend to order one whole size larger than you normally wear. The shoes them are very good quality shoes.
Rockered solesVerified Buyer Reviewed by AK from UTAH on Monday, July 31, 2017Rockered soles take some getting used to. The lacing is nice with no laces to tie. Outsole has great traction. If you're looking for a super breathable shoe, this isn't it.
1/2 size smallVerified Buyer Reviewed by Robert from Durango, CO on Monday, July 31, 2017I have owned a number Salewa hiking boots and they are AWSOME. Seriously built to handle the mountains of Colorado so I was stoked to see these trail runners for sale. I ordered my standard size only to find out they run a 1/2 size smaller than their hiking boots.
Very narrow and stiffVerified Buyer Reviewed by SwampRunner27 from Florida on Monday, July 24, 2017I didn't really get to use the shoes at all because they just didn't fit right at all. The shoes are extremely narrow and are very hard all the way around. These are definitely training specific shoes and not for general running unless you plan on sprinting everywhere. They are built extremely well and can imagine that they are very good on the mountain. They have a hard toe box like climbing shoes and the soles look like they can take a beating. They look like a really good shoe for a very specific kind of running and terrain. Again, the shoes are narrow and if you have wide feet those first few miles are going to hurt because they don't look like they break in easy.
I really wanted to like these shoes!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Bob from Chicago on Thursday, May 11, 2017Granted, my feet run towards the wide side, but these shoes must be made for someone with really narrow feet. I normally wear a size 8, so that's what I first ordered. When they arrived I couldn't even get them on with a light pair of socks. So I decided to return the 8's and try an 8 1/2. Same result, I couldn't get them on. They are just too narrow for my feet. So, I decided to just return them and try a different brand/model altogether. These shoes are very well made and look really nice, but were just too narrow for me. They're also very stiff for a trail running shoe - I was looking for a lightweight running shoe with a high-traction sole. These were not it.
Some shoes just have better ideasVerified Buyer Reviewed by madskilz from Florida on Friday, April 21, 2017The way the tongue on these shoes are just make them more comfortable along with the lace tightening system. They just feel right. Shoes size seems right.
Takes a bit to get used, though feels goodReviewed by David from Montana on Saturday, April 15, 2017Just ordered these. True to size (I wear a 10 in most everything, this shoe included), though the toe box is snug. After wearing for awhile everything adjusted to a good fit and I like snug shoes. Rocker or rolling gate took some getting used to, though after a few hours feels good. Fairly light weight for how sturdy it is. Breathability is not great. Hope they don't start to stink down the road.
Too weird for meReviewed by James in Tahoe from Tahoe on Monday, April 10, 2017Maybe the rockered forefoot is a good idea, but the way the force my toes up feels too severe for me to try. I don't want one pair of shoes that has a totally different gait than my boots and other shoes. Just walking around the house I feel like my feet would get tired quickly. Since I can't return them if I wear them out, I can't risk taking them out to see if I can get used to them. They'll have to go back.
SolidReviewed by MP from CA on Saturday, March 25, 2017Sizing: I vary between 9.5 and 10. I got these in 10 which seems to be the right size for me (though I would have tried 9.5 if in a store, so I'm saying true to size in the 9-10 range).
Fit: The shoe locks your foot in nicely, especially in the heel area, with some adjustability afforded by the laces. Like most euro brands I've tried a bit narrow in the forefoot area. There's volume in the toe, but the room is up-down so my toes are cramped side-to-side, especially my little toe and after swelling. It's a rigid shoe; I'd say your foot needs to adapt to the shoe (if not a perfect fit) rather than the shoe adapting to your foot.
Looks/construction: Awesome looking shoe. Solid construction all-around, it appears like it will last. Medium breathability - my feet felt a bit hot in these, even in 50-degree weather (while active) - not waterproof though.
Feel: The "Rolling Gait" took some getting used to. The curved and rigid sole brings my toes up, stretching my arch and achilles tendon. This would have been nice when I had a bout of plantar fasciitis, but now I have gout-like symptoms in my big toes and that was exacerbated after a few hours of use. It definitely forced me to use a different gait than I'm used to to lessen the pain in the big toe joints. I had to force myself not to curl my toes (the up-down volume allows for that). The shoe also feels "minimalist" as in low to the ground, which I like but others may prefer more cushion.
Use: I tried a five-mile trail run, I'm not sure I'll use them for that: too rigid, hurt my big toes too much (maybe after some more break-in). I don't think they'd work for me as a serious hiker under load, I feel the rocks through the sole. I do like them as a light-duty hiking/walking/approach shoe that uses different muscle groups than the regular shoe type; that, coupled with the looks/construction/price make them a keeper for me.
quite niceReviewed by toobigtofail from Wyoming on Wednesday, March 22, 2017quality construction, good support, cool lacing system.
the rockered outsole with vibram rolling gait system is not too dramatic and feels natural. It took me a few minutes to find the way that the shoe wants my foot to move but after that it was smooth sailing. the way that the sole cups your foot is very supportive.
The laces are very thin and strong, probably some sort of nylon blend. The thinness isnt an issue because the shoe doesnt have traditional cut out eyelets. The eyelets are actually on the strip thats attached to the sides of the shoe.
Outsole is durable, upper is well-made. If you like the look of this one, you wont be disappointed. I went with the red, in my normal size 10 and it fits perfectly. I would definitely be weary of going too large in this shoe because you'll want your arch and the ball of your foot to fit where the curve begins. This is of course true of all shoes, but these especially.
