Good shoes: but not waterproofReviewed by jmn from Charlotte NC on Monday, May 28, 2018I really like these shoes a lot and have been wearing them for months. But they are NOT waterproof. They’ve never been totally waterproof but this weekend I went hiking in the mountains in intermittent rain on trails with a lot of long grass. I was squishing in my shoes after an hour.
Had to have another pair!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Leyenda from Arizona on Sunday, November 12, 2017I loved the way these shoes felt from the moment I put them on. After wearing them daily for a few weeks I just knew they were the shoes for my daily dog walks and for my upcoming 3-week hike on the Camino de Santiago. Knowing a good thing when it comes along, I ordered a second pair to be sure I would have this shoe when I needed another pair.
Good fit and waterproofVerified Buyer Reviewed by Diane from Idaho on Monday, November 6, 2017I bought the shoes for the waterproof properties and it did not disappoint. I have tested these out on the soccer fields for my children's soccer games and walked on wet dewy grass. My feet were dry the whole time. I also have to be in the field occasionally for my work. These should work just fine. I normally wear 8.5 in running shoes and the 8.5 fit just fine. The laces have to be tied snuggly and double knotted to stay, but otherwise no issues with the shoes.
Warm & ComfyReviewed by tree from Olympic Peninsula on Monday, October 30, 2017I have a favorite pair of Salomon hiking boots that I tried on in the store and got a size 8 instead of my normal size 9...even thought the sales clerk said they run true to size. I took a risk on these and ordered 8.5...I have to keep them tied snugly at my ankle to keep my heel from raising up out of the shoe...but when tied this way they are very comfortable and I forget I'm wearing them. They keep my feet warm and comfy for outdoor walking in the cool damp NW weather. I haven't gotten to test the waterproofing yet in any serious way, but they seem durable, if not slightly stiff. My heel tends to be normal width, but I need a wider toe box. These shoes work pretty well for that profile. No scrunched toes!
StiffReviewed by MKL from Snohomish WA on Thursday, October 26, 2017This shoe has a great insole. It was so comfortable when I first put it on. I walked around the house and found that the sole was so stiff it barely flexed with each step. The shoe is also runs a bit big. Had to send them back.
Perfect for fallVerified Buyer Reviewed by Sophie from NYC on Monday, October 16, 2017Very happy with my purchase. I already owned a salomon hiking shoes for summer that is not waterproof. This one will be perfect for hiking in fall and in slightly damped weather. I normally wear a 8.5 but for sneakers and hiking boots, I go half a size bigger and a 9 fits perfectly.
Oddly stiff. Love them thoVerified Buyer Reviewed by Marley from MD on Friday, October 13, 2017These are different from other hiking shoes I've had. The midsole is remarkably stiff. I actually like that so I kept them. You probably won't need an arch insert with these. There seems to be a little bit less space in side for my orthotic however I haven't worn them around much yet and my orthotic is really not necessary. They may feel snug in the forefoot it'll stretch out to your foot soon enough.
Salomon Ellipse 2Verified Buyer Reviewed by Melpetronio from Colorado on Wednesday, October 11, 2017Great shoes! I'm a 7.5 and fits true to size. Comfortable, great soles that shed dirt and mud, yet provide grip on shale and rock. And my feet stayed on a very wet weekend! The only reason I gave these shoes a 4 and not a 5 star review is because the laces will not stay tied, no matter how many different ways I try to tie them. Will be replacing those soon.
Very Comfortable, Not too warmReviewed by whoneedsluck from Massachusettes on Tuesday, October 3, 2017Bought these for a trip to Ireland where we were planning on doing a lot of walking and day hiking. As you know you don't go to Ireland for the weather.
These shoes were perfect! I wore them every day while I was there, I wore them on the plane, hiking up Diamond Mountain, bike riding etc.
They were not overly warm like some waterproof shoes and were probably for me, the most comfortable low hiker and or sneaker I've ever worn. I stepped in puddles, wore them in the rain, had ocean surf run over them and my foot remained dry.
I am a true size 7 and very rare occasions can fit in 6 1/2, these shoes fit very well with room for expansion, however some people with a narrow fit might find them too wide.
Really happyReviewed by Shannon from NC on Friday, September 29, 2017I've never had a shoe fit so well without a break-in period, but these do. I was afraid that they might be a little snug, but after a walk around the room they're perfect. Very true-to-size (I wear 7.5). Lots of cushion and support in the soles. My only minor complaint is the slick laces that come untied unless I double them up. Everything else adds up to my new favorite shoes. Extremely comfortable, and I love green and grey color too.
