supportive but agile

As a long-time backpacker averaging 1500 to 2000 miles a year and long-time user of Asolo backpacking boots (Power Matics and 520 TPS), I wanted to try a lighter boot that still had sufficient rigidity to resist when I turned an ankle carrying a pack. These boots fit the description: 10 ounces (each) lighter than my Asolos but still have a strong midsole and supportive ankle cuff. Probably not as bulletproof on rocky terrain as the 2 mm. leather Asolos, but seems reasonable to trade some foot protection for a fair reduction in weight (and a gain in midsole flexibility.) Only have a few miles on them so far but enough to see that they require no break-in. And they cost nearly $200 less than new Power Matics, thanks to STP's enlightened pricing. Remains to be seen if I can get the 1500 miles or so that I typically get from a pair of Asolos, but at these prices, that's a minor concern.
