I was looking for a waterproof hiking boot that would hold my foot securely enough to run on snow packed trails up in the mountains. These are just what I needed. I'm a consistent size 6.5, but decided to take a chance on the ordering the 5.5 since that was all that was left and Salomon often runs l... Read More

I've now had a chance to hike in these boots and they have not hurt at all. Wore a pair of Smartwool lite hiker socks since it was 100 degrees out. I bought a half size larger to accommodate Superfeet insoles and a mid or heavyweight sock. I have a wide foot, long toes and narrow heel and have always had difficulty finding women's boots with enough foot room that did not cause both blisters and very sore feet. [In the past I've purchased men's boots to get the extra width I need but they are also a little loose in the heel area.] These boots are the most comfortable I have worn without any breaking in period. They are GoreTex and I cannot vouch for waterproofing properties as I have not been in rain or streams yet. Good traction on loose dirt and rocks. Great ankle support. Easy lacing system.

I just got these boots for a trip to Patagonia in January 2015. They suggested getting the boots early and wearing them as much as possible to break them in before the trip. Well, these are so comfortable already that I am amazed! I will continue to wear them to get them ready for my trip but, they hardly need it. Very light weight with great ankle support which I need because of a previous injury. The footbed is very stable. The sole is very well engineered. Overall very happy with these boots. Will try to remember to add on to comments after the trip as this will be the true test. I looked at many boots before I bought these and now that I have them and have worn them several times I feel confident that they are just what I need.

My husband has this model boot from salomon and he really likes it. They have held up pretty well for him for 2 years now with hard daily use outdoors. He says they are very waterproof until just recently. I normally like keens because of the wide toe box but they dont really hold up for more than a year. (i am also very hard on my boots with daily outdoor work) I normally wear size 7 in keens but had to size down to a 6.5 in this boot. So far they are very comfortable and wide enough for my toes. I wouldn't consider my feet to be wide however, i find a wide toe box is best for crouching and keeling down a lot. The Salomons seem to be well built and sturdy and I expect them to last a bit longer than the keens. ill give them 4 stars for now until i put them to the real test! :)

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
