  • Excellent comfort! Misleading color
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Hunter and fisherman from South Dakota on Sunday, December 10, 2017
Have been wearing Salomon’s footwear for many years and the speedcross are one of their most comfortable for my feet! Very form fitting and hugs the foot nicely. Traction is excellent in most terrains but the cushion isn’t quite perfect for large rocks. I use the shoe for both running and everyday wear and enjoy it for both.
The shoe color was advertised as gray but mine showed up as more of a purple. I have seen other shoes with the same color problems but also have seen them in more of a true gray. Not a huge deal to me so I will not be returning.

  • Arches too high

I was really excited about these shoes. I've never had a pair of Solomons, but I've heard great things. Unfortunately, the arches in these shoes were just way too high. They hurt my feet when I wore them for 15 minutes around the house. They'll be returned.
  • Salomon love

I love these shoes. Hiking, around town or a baseball field they are amazing
  • Close to great

I wanted to like these shoes more than I do. They have a durable, well made feel, grippe and aggressive tread, and a soft, neutral cushion. However, their heel-to-toe drop is about 6mm too much in my opinion. The toe box is too narrow for my average width feet. The innovative lacing system is actually more annoying than helpful as it requires the shoe’s tongue to be extra large to accommodate the stowed laces. Once snug, the laces don’t stretch one bit. Combined with the fairly rigid shoe material this makes for an uncomfortable fit. Despite these gripes, I still like this shoe and will be wearing it for technical, shorter distance trail running.

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
