Grain of salt - not a running shoe

Long story short, I mistakenly thought these were aggressive trail running shoes. They are not. So, take this review with a grain of salt. My immediate reaction was, "holy cow, these are stiff and heavy!" - but as a trail [hiking] shoe, they'd be appropriate. The tread is very aggressive. I ordered an 8.5 as recommended (I'm a solid 9), and the fit was great - the foot bed and fit were very comfortable. HOWEVER, the ankles were either high or very stiff around my medial and lateral malleoli, leading me to believe that they would have rubbed uncomfortably. The quick-lace is... different. The tongue of the shoe felt bunched and awkward when cinched, and there's a lot of extra lace, making me fearful of getting caught on vegetation along trails.
To summarize, this seems to be a tough hiking shoe appropriate for open trails, but it was not the trail running shoe I was hoping for.
