Verified Buyer Reviewed by DebZ from Indiana on Friday, November 17, 2017This is my second pair. The shoe is very rigid, but it's so tough that I'm willing to go through a breaking-in period. I work outside and walk most of my work day on gravel. These shoes protect my feet and the soles wear very well compared to other shoes while giving me great support.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Heather from Ohio on Thursday, November 16, 2017I ordered them a half size smaller I wear either a 7 1/2 or in narrow an 8. After reading reviews I ordered a 7 and they fit pretty close. I can wear with regular socks but feel like it rubs on the back of my heel higher up so will need thicker socks. They were warm and worked well with racking wet leaves and my feet stayed dry and warm and it was upper 30s. They are definitely a heavier shoe almost a boot like feel but very stiff.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Flip Flop Girl from Charlotte, NC on Thursday, October 26, 2017These shoes are heavy in the heel, and come up high on your heel in the back. The first time I walked on the greenway (completely flat) I got a blister. I wore them again today, and put a bandaid on my heel. That helped and the shoes didn't hurt me. They are still a bit heavy in the heel.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jane RN from Colorado on Wednesday, October 11, 2017I’m on my feet all day as a nurse, so comfort is super important.... and on my days off, I’m still on my feet hiking or trail running. These are my go to shoe on wet, cool, or snowy days - offering great support, and protection so I can still get outside comfortably in the off season. My feet do get hot, so these are a bit too warm for me to wear indoors all day, or on warm days with heavier socks (which I’ve done by mistake). Otherwise these are some of my favorite outside shoes
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Ziva from Colorado Mountains on Monday, September 25, 2017These shoes fit true to size and were very comfortable right out of the box. I love the Salomon waterproof trail running shoes (for women) as travel shoes, and wear them pretty much every day. The closure is great-- no more tying laces that won't stay tied-- these stay where you put them. They replaced a pair I wore out on the inside.

Hi, I order these for my wife in half size smaller than she usually wears. I would also recommend going down half size as they run big
I am usually an 8 1/2 but I bought an 8 in these!
If you size up for width in the toe box, then you won't need to with this shoe...it's plenty wide.
I returned the shoe, but from what I remember it was true to size. I wear 8.5, usually 9 in a sneaker with socks, and the 9 fit me.
I am not sure. I returned these they were not as comfortable as other Salomon I had purchased. Sorry.
“Any thoughts about how suitable these would be for hiking in the Peruvian mountains? I'm going on a week-long trek and having thoughts that my Hanwags (which I love) might be heavier than I want. ”
I'm not sure about Peruvian mountains but my wife has been hiking in Colorado mountains and these shoes do great. They're waterproof, comfy and light. Hope it helps you
Having hiked in the Peruvian mountains myself, which are very stony, I would go with a shoe with some ankle support.
I have never been to Peru, but if you would like lighter hikers, these fit the bill. They are heavier than trail runners but lighter than most hiking shoes I have worn. They are also pretty stiff and waterproof, but don't breathe that well. I hope this helps!
I think these would be great for hiking the Peruvian Mtns. They are waterproof and have good support and certainly are not heavy.
