Excellent shoe right out of the box. The previous model was a little too heavy, but still quite comfortable. It seems the shoe now is lighter and yet the same comfortable fit. The biggest advantage the shoe has is the heel fits well and the toe box is roomy. The shoe fits true to size, but I go ... Read More

As usual, I am very happy with my Salomon trail runners... I always have a pair. The brand offers the best support for my arches, and they always have a good look (I don't like the trendy taste of "clown shoes" with bright colors since I wear my sneakers to the office). The only thing about the Salomon brand is that they tend to wear out quickly, becoming flimsy and losing their treads after 6 months of wear. The current pair (XA Pro 3D) is holding up, but I expect them to wear out quickly like my other ones (about 7+ years' worth of history).

I have a little use in these now. They are very comfortable. I have been playing with the lacing to get the right fit over my feet, but that hasn't diminished how good they feel on the run. I love the firm sole for trails.

I just keep going back to Solomon. Durable, fits well, made well, every time. STP has great prices.

Although these appear to be very solidly built I had to return them for two reasons. Firstly they did not seem to fit my feet comfortably overall and besides I thought they were slightly too small for their size. Secondly I really disliked the lacing system and the laces themselves.
I must say however that the system for making returns, getting an immediate credit and being able to get a different item or size is very easy and customer oriented.

I've been trail running in this shoes for over 10 years. It is perfect for rocky, rugged mountain trails but handles great on easier dirt trails too. I usually wear the women's size 10 but the men's size 9 is the same fit.

I have funky feet...one wider than the other. It is difficult to find shoes that work. I went for a small men''s size and it worked beautifully. These shoes are so comfortable.

  • “Waterproof?”
Asked by Ron from Colorado on 5/17/2017 7:34:19 PM
    • No, very porous with mesh netting.
Answered on 5/17/2017 8:08:04 PM by Mr. McGregor from San Francisco
    • Not even close. I buy these because they breathe, but water will soak right through them. You need the GTX version if you need waterproof. Most of Salomon's shoes come in a GTX version - GTX = GoreTex.

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
