Did not like. The hat was too thin to wear for much warmth due to holes in the weave, yet also a bit tight and not relaxed in the fit so was not something I'd want to wear for style either. The yarn was _not_ special or soft. Skip this one.

I liked this beanie so much that I bought a second one, considering the price.
The second one is much smaller and too tight even for my small head.
I guess they are hand-made, which is a good thing, but size is more of a gamble.
About the insulating issue: you really need to wear it outdoors on a cold day to see that alpaca is really very insulating despite being so thin and light.

I have a small head and this beanie fits perfect, covers ears and won't slide over my eyes.
Alpaca wool is very thin and light but very warm, more insulating than sheep wool.
It won't keep you warm during a heavy blizzard but when temperatures are in the 20's or 30's it keeps my head very warm without feeling stuffy and sweaty. I have very short hair and for the average winter temperatures where I live this is perfect.
I will get another one in a different color.

It's a cute hat, but doesn't provide any insulation.
    • Best Uses: Fashion not function
    • Cons: Non insulating, thin
    • Pros: Comfortable, Great Color, Stylish

I was excited to order this hat because the color (blue purple) is very pretty and, judging from the picture, the shape looks like a slouch beanie. It is also reasonably priced for hand knit alpaca. When I received it, I thought I must have been sent a child's hat by mistake! I was able to get it on my head, but the fit was like an extremely tight and thin skull cap--not flattering or particularly warm. I returned it. I wish the dimensions of the hat were included and/or it were shown on a model. Otherwise, there's no way to tell its actual size.
    • Cons: Not warm, Too small, Too tight
    • Pros: Pretty color, Soft
