Solid but wears quickly.

These shoes feel great right out of the box. I ordered 11 and 11.5 and the fit between the two was very different - it felt like the 11.5 had a totally different layout. Although a smidge large I rolled with the 11.5 (I wear 11.5 in Brooks, Nike, Asolo, Merrell - 11 in Zamberlan) with mid weight PhD's to take up some space and glad I did. After soaking them as river shoes hiking to Zapata Falls, they dried nicely and tightened just a bit and when paired with lightweight Smartwool PhD made a nice combo for a few days of my last trip. They don't grip well when wet - took them down Sulphur Creek at Capitol Reef and I learned quickly to get them dry before trying to scale the falls areas. Grip is pretty good on many dry rock surfaces and very good in sandy/loose terrains. The Vibram sole is soft, but doesn't grip that well for how quickly they are wearing and that's where my -1 comes in. For soles that wear this quick they should be a little grippier(I.e a better compound). If I get 400 miles on them I'd be surprised. Still for $60 a good deal. Actually thinking about ordering another pair despite the quickly wearing sole as my feet felt great after some 15 mile/3000' days in them.
