1. lots of padding or cushioning around achilles. seems a bit too much. 2. may have to size up or prepare with thin socks because of extra cushioning on downhill running dips toes into toe box. as for trail shoes they respond well to various terrains. water resistant is part of the label reading, but even a morning dew penetrated the shoe. personally i stay my own size and stuck with thin socks. allowing your toes to breath and reflex to each foot stride is more dependent to each runner's feel. they hold their own on singletrack and adapt to multiple surfaces. a bit heavy...for those who have a size their worth the value.
