It's always a compromise between weight and performance. Historical reviews of this product shows they nailed it.

I swapped to alpine DIN soles and these boots can easily drive my Blizzard Bonifide 180s (with FKS 140s) and Armada JJ 185s (with Baron 13s) very close to dedicated Alpine boots.

Great boot for a great price.
  • Terrible Warenty

I skied on thease boots for about half the season at Mt Baker (skiing 4-5 days a week). One day I looked down and realized the toe had cracked just below the buckle. A few days later the other boot cracked too. I got in touch with warenty and it had now been almost TWO MONTHS LATER. I love the boots, but have been super bummed about the customer service.

These boots arrived amidst a Pure Michigan warm up of ^0 degree weather in February. My local hill has closed for the season, and I have not been able to make a road trip.
They do appear to be good quality. I cooked the liners and fitted them to my feet, but have not been able to actually ski.
  • Great boot for touring and alpine

I just got these and wore them a few days with the alpine soles on a resort. They were quite comfortable to ski and walk around it. The buckles and power strap allowed me to fine tune the fit throughout the day. The cuff range of motion is pretty large, so I will be interested to see how these perform on a skin.

  • “I need to use these boots on alpine skis with marker bindings, need the non rubber sole. Do you have them?”
Asked by Rake from Winter Park, co on 12/15/2017 8:15:03 PM
    • I had a difficult time locating Alpine soles for these (sold out everywhere I looked)
I ended up using Salomon Warden MNC bindings on 2 of my alpine setups and have been super happy.
These are my daily drivers now

    • You can purchase the alpine-binding compatible soles via the Scarpa website: They are called: "Vibram Mountain Piste Sole" and come in two sizes. The size depends on the size of the boots you purchased. That's what I did and the soles fit my boots perfectly.

  • “Could these be used for regular downhill piste skiing by someone hoping to progress to touring? Or just better to buy different boots for both purposes?”
Asked by Steve from Seattle on 2/16/2017 12:35:02 PM
    • I use them for both patroling at the resort as well as touring in the local canyons in my town. I've probably got 18 tour trips on them this winter and 30 resort days. I can tighten them up real nice when I'm at the resort, as well as keep them loose when i tour, walk around, and hike. I had the inserts heat molded at the local shop (not at home) for best fit which adds an even more awesome fit. Good luck!

    • It's just as good as a dedicated Alpine boot and the replaceable soles allows changing types with minimal effort.
Some users run touring heel soles (and pin bracket) or modified DIN heel soles (and pin bracket) with DIN toe soles for alpine use. I swap both.
These boots are much lighter than my alpine boots (Atomic) and it's obvious.
      Best of luck!

    • Nope, just get the Vibram mountain piste attachment and you'll be set! I use mine for work, skinning with my tech setup, and piste with the Vibrams on. Cheers!

    • Yes, Kingpin, Dynafit, and MNC compatible.
I use them with my Kingpin and Salomon Warden MNC setups (without switching soles) and they work perfectly.
