5.0 out of 5 stars. Freedom SL

It's always a compromise between weight and performance. Historical reviews of this product shows they nailed it.

I swapped to alpine DIN soles and these boots can easily drive my Blizzard Bonifide 180s (with FKS 140s) and Armada JJ 185s (with Baron 13s) very close to dedicated Alpine boots.

Intuition liners are very forgiving so find a local resource or read these links (and others) to achieve slipper-like bliss: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php/102575-Tutorial-Molding-Intuition-Liners
and
http://www.slidewright.com/heating-and-molding-intuition-ski-or-snowboard-boot-liners/

I found the the sizing to actually be very close the same as usual US sizing with mondo 28 = 10-10.5 and 110mm (=EE) for me.
Those with high insteps will likely need a different boot.
The flex rating of 120 seems correct.
Walk mode has one of the best connectors.
Cant angle adjustment is adequate.
Forward lean angle adjustment is adequate.
Cuff middle adjustment seems smallish to me but it is adjustable with 1 larger and 1 smaller.
Required tool for all hex and the phillips screw is included.
All manufacturer documentation is included.

Return shipping is included (thanks Sierra, never had to use it!)..

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Scarpa freedom sl

I have had multiple sets of Scarpa ski boots, Alpine and tele, and the size 27 always fits me well but this one did not. It was tight in the forefoot and big in the toe box. I did not get them heat molded as I doubt these faults would improve much.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Not enough cant latitude

Even with the cant adjust maxed out, you can't even get the center of your kneecap over the centerline of the ski. The center of my kneecap sits about 2cm outside of the ski centerline (I normally have my kneecap 2cm inside of the ski centerline). The result is that you are forced to ski with way too much edge making it hard to get the skis out from under you in big super G turns. Also compared to an alpine racing boot the flex is way soft for it being a 120. Finally the toe box comes so roomy that you are limited in how much fitting you can do to get it snug around a low volume foot. I got these on clearance from STP for around $175 so at least I didn't break the bank on a disappointing purchase.

Great boot for a great price.
  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Terrible Warenty
Reviewed by Zoe Petersen from Washington on Sunday, March 25, 2018
I skied on thease boots for about half the season at Mt Baker (skiing 4-5 days a week). One day I looked down and realized the toe had cracked just below the buckle. A few days later the other boot cracked too. I got in touch with warenty and it had now been almost TWO MONTHS LATER. I love the boots, but have been super bummed about the customer service.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. No snow.....

These boots arrived amidst a Pure Michigan warm up of ^0 degree weather in February. My local hill has closed for the season, and I have not been able to make a road trip.
They do appear to be good quality. I cooked the liners and fitted them to my feet, but have not been able to actually ski.
