Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by moffen from Sierra's California on Saturday, August 10, 2013This boot is what I have been looking for. Stiff for a pro style crampon to kick on ice but flexible enough to walk in with minimal altered gait. They run a bit small but STP got me the right size and I'm good to go. I typically wear a 10 but am comfortable in an 11 with this boot.
Reviewed by Pepe Le Poseur from Minnesota on Thursday, June 27, 2013Bought these as a lighter spring-summer ice/mixed/mountaineering boot. Just came off the "Notch Couloir" on Long's Peak as their maiden voyage (other than break in hikes) and these boots performed great. They were warm but not too hot, waterproof in slushy snow, kicked steps great, and really climbed rock and ice well. Not the most ideal hiking boot due to stiffness for climbing (I went in tennies till Chasm lake junction), but they are very light (why I got them). So you have your trade offs....I prefered to err on the side of good climbing boot. After logging about a dozen test miles in them, and many blisters, I dialed in the lacing, sock, and insole combo (added orange Superfeet insoles, with smartwool light hiking sock, and pre-covered known blister areas. After the Notch, my feet were golden and I stayed in the boots for the whole descent to the car--never changed back to tennies. Take the time to dial them in before a big trip or you may pay the price -- pretty much goes for any footwear, so no real news there. I'd definitely recommend these boots.
Reviewed by Machine from Delaware on Wednesday, May 1, 2013Scarpa has always been a good boot. Very durable and plenty of forefoot room.
