I use these for long day hikes and had a problem with another pair of boots so got these to replace them. I was immediately pleased with he fit and feel. They were comfortable right away. The sole is very grippy but flexible. Ankle support is excellent. I have worn Asolo boots for years and I refuse... Read More

  • Overall bad experience with boots and ordering on this site
Reviewed by daniel from Teton Valley from teton valley, Idaho on Monday, June 25, 2018
Site needed to verify my identity which wasted a lot of time and as a result did not ship in time. I almost did not get the boots in time for the hike which actually would have been better.

These boots appeared to fit alright at first. The site says to order larger which is actually not true. These are true to size so ordering large was only slightly too big for me. But I figured since I will be wearing heavy hiking socks and putting in insoles it should be OK.

Main problem with these boots is their terrible design of having an angled heel toward the calf. I am now suffering from severe tendonitis/bursitis after using these boots on a 5 day hike this month. I do not know how long it will be until I can use boots again or engage in athletic activities. Unfortunately this flaw is not apparent until using this boot for days on the trail and it can not be solved in any way. I am very frustrated. I am a low wage employee at a resort in Wyoming and hiking is one of my main pastimes. I don't have money to buy another pair of boots and wasted my money on these. I knew that ordering online with sierra trading post would be a mistake for boots. It's not totally a judgement against the company, what kind of idiot would order boots online, and I should have known that the cheapest scrap boots would have some kind of major problem.

it also seems that one boot is slightly larger than the other and there is a strange mark on the boot like it was considered unsellable at one point.

obviously at this point it would be against their return policy to take them back.

I recently tried to put them back on and ended up having to carry them 5 miles over sharp gravel while going barefoot. I couldn't even bear the pain in my achilles for more than 10 steps. Hard and expensive lesson learned. I will never buy boots online again.

This is a great boot for the price. However, it is a full size too small. I usually wear a 10.5/11 and a 12 in this boot fits me.

  • “Would these be warm enough for apres ski, and mucking about in snow? Not looking for full on mountaineering boots, but rather something comfortable, waterproof, and warm for walking about the village after snowboarding. Thanks!

    • These are lined, but not insulated. They are waterproof. You could use them, however there is not a temperature rating due to the number of factors that affect how warm it may keep you.

    • There is not difference in size between the Euro size and the US sizing, the conversion has already been done from Euro to US so both sizes match. The shoe just runs small.

About Scarpa

Scarpa of Italy was literally "born in a barn" back in 1951. Founder Luigi Parisotto launched his footwear career in a small outbuilding, crafting handmade shoes for locals with a nearly fanatical attention to detail. After cultivating a flawless reputation among his patrons, Luigi eventually switched from work boots to mountaineering boots, and Scarpa boots were born. Today, more than six decades later, Scarpa climbing shoes and mountaineering boots remain among the very best in the sporting industry. By fusing modern technology with an old-world attention to craftsmanship, Scarpa shoes and boots provide superior comfort for adventure-seekers who demand the absolute best. Experience a higher elevation of footwear performance.
