Great quality, great design, perfect fit and true to size on my 7M feet. Have yet to wear the outdoors....seems as though they will provide support for most activities (walking, hiking...). And even though this "test" is still pending, I had to give them 5 stars...happiest I've ever been with a shoe... Read More

  • “Is it Waterproof sboe?”
Asked by cobbler from California on 4/3/2016 6:43:32 AM
    • it doesn't have a GoreTex component, but the suede is pretty water-repelant.
Answered on 4/3/2016 8:16:47 AM by Erin from Maine
    • I haven't put them to the test, but since they are suede, I would say no. Other website reviews I've seen mention waterproofing them, but warn about that darkening the color.

    • No, it is untreated leather to allow better breathability.
Answered on 4/4/2016 7:35:06 AM by Art Chick from Virginia
    • According to the product specs tab: Non-Waterproof

  • “Can these be reasonably waterproofed?”
Asked by Stella from Oregon on 1/28/2016 2:17:48 AM
    • If you use a suede waterproofing, it could add some waterproofing. However, the tongue is not gusseted, so it probably won't be fully waterproofed.

  • “What are approach shoes?”

    • they are somewhat of a hybrid between a hiking shoe and a climbing shoe. they are typically used on easier climbs/steep hikes on the way to the thing you really want to climb. or whatever else you want to use them for.

  • “I am looking for a size 7. Do these fit if it's 37.5?”
Asked by Mary from Chicago on 7/14/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • Here are the conversions.|37.5 (US: Size 6½) 40.5 (US: Size 8½-9) 41.5 (US: Size 9½) 42 (US: Size 10)
Answered on 7/18/2012 12:00:00 AM by Prod.Spec. Ryan from Sierra Trading Post
    • Yes i would recommend ordering a 41 if you usually wear a 9.
Answered on 1/13/2012 12:00:00 AM by Prod. Spec. Ryan from Sierra Trading Post
    • I wear a size 9.5US and the 41Euro is a perfect fit with more than sufficient space in toe box.|Arch support is average. Not assertive. The insole is removable so a more substantial arch support could be inserted.

About Scarpa

Scarpa of Italy was literally "born in a barn" back in 1951. Founder Luigi Parisotto launched his footwear career in a small outbuilding, crafting handmade shoes for locals with a nearly fanatical attention to detail. After cultivating a flawless reputation among his patrons, Luigi eventually switched from work boots to mountaineering boots, and Scarpa boots were born. Today, more than six decades later, Scarpa climbing shoes and mountaineering boots remain among the very best in the sporting industry. By fusing modern technology with an old-world attention to craftsmanship, Scarpa shoes and boots provide superior comfort for adventure-seekers who demand the absolute best. Experience a higher elevation of footwear performance.
