Was looking for a fair little scope for my Ruger 10/22 and this seems to fit the bill. Solidly put together, easy to pick up dot.

Seems to be well made but time will tell. Only giving 4 stars until it passes the test of time.

Nice clear optics and works fine close which is good for bow hunting.

Although I usually purchase expensive, first-quality optics (I own Leupold, Nightforce, Steiner, Aimpoint, Eotech, and Swarovski), I am alive to the fact that not every application requires world-class glass, nor can I afford or justify that expense in every instance. So, when Meade Optics purchased Simmons a few years ago, I was hopeful that we would see improved quality in Simmons products. Simmons products suffered a fall-off in quality in the 1990s and early 2000s but under Meade ownership, I am happy to report that we can once again count on Simmons to provide affordable, mid-quality optics.
I purchased a Simmons 1x20 Compact Red Dot Scope and installed it on a 12 gauge Remington 870 Tactical shotgun. After 100 rounds, at 25 yards the sight continues to hold true. What more could a person want than a product that functions in-line with expectations? Clearly, this sight is not intended for hard, tactical use, nor can it offer the level of precision of its $500-$1000 counterparts, but it works fine on top of a home defense shotgun.
At this price-point, the unit is nicely finished, the adjustments are reasonably crisp, and light intensity adjustments work fine, as do the windage and elevation adjustments. However, because I have only needed it to be as accurate as required for buckshot, I can't speak to its MOA accuracy. However, I would think that as long as the user isn't expecting the results of a $500-$1000 optic, they should be pleased.
Conclusion: Buyer needs to have reasonable expectations. This is not a first-quality optic. However, I would recommend this unit to a friend looking for a well made, functional, light-duty red dot site. I would buy again.
Note: this is a low-profile factory mount. Depending on what you install it on, you may need to use a riser.
