This is probably my favorite jacket. Not sure that I can think of one that I've had and liked more. It is super light but blocks the wind well. With proper layers underneath it makes a nice shell for all but the worst winter weather I see in the Maryland area. It is just a shell, so you do need ... Read More

    • I can't say mine is of a different color.

    • i won't be much help - too subjective. same here - looks purplish/gray, depending. a straight-up gray would have been good but i didn't want to chance the purplish. i went with the blue (current?). great jacket though, regardless of color.
good luck. and be thankful for STPs wonderful, painless return process.

    • I bought this jacket and it is an unusual blueish/gray. Kind of the color of a stormy sky... a quick look and someone would say it is gray.

    • I have the nightshade, and yes, it is both purple/gray. I regularly get compliments on the color of the jacket. The fish haven't complained about it either.

    • Every jacket I own is a medium. But, based on previous reviews, I bought both the medium and the large with the intention of taking advantage of STP's simple returns. After trying both sizes on - if I intended to wear the Acklins jacket over just a shirt, I would have kept the medium. Since I want the option of layering over fleece or down, I kept the large. I'm 5' 7", 155lbs. Hope that helps.

    • The only sizing comment I could make is that the sleeves seem to have a bit smaller circumference than jackets of the same size.

    • I have always been a size "M" and that size in this jacket would have been fine if I planned to layer underneath. I exchanged for a Small since the M was a too tent-like for my purposes which is no underlayers.

    • The jacket has a slightly snug fit, especially the sleeves, so I recommend keeping any layering to a minimum. Also, because the sleeves are rather long I don’t recommend getting one size up just to accommodate extra layering.

    • Yes that is what I did, and it turned out well for me.

    • This item does not have interior pockets, but the extended pit zips with two-way zippers double as hand pockets.

    • The pit zips have two-way zippers so that they can be opened only as far as you would like for use as hand pockets.
