Odd rub points

When racing I wear closed-toe boat shoes with little arch support and had been looking for a pair of affordable non-slip sandals with arch support to wear after regattas. While these sandals have the good arch support and appear to be non-slip (on a wet boat deck) they were uncomfortable on my feet and not worth keeping despite the great STP price. If you look closely at where the upper connects to the footbed you will see that the upper ends up wrapping under your foot when you wear the sandal. After a short while wearing these sandals it felt like I had a small wadded up piece of paper under my foot. The upper was also just loose enough so that my feet would slide forward and rub more than I would prefer against the toe divider. Both of these issues, I believed, would eventually lead to blisters. Otherwise these sandals were comfortable, stable on the foot, and of good quality, which is why I'm giving it three stars. I wear a size 8-8.5 (European 39) in a closed back shoe and usually size down in an open back sandal (European 38). For this flip flop do not size down. I ordered a size 9 and the European equivalent was 39.
