Incredible socks.....they are like wearing a work of art! Very soft, nice high length. Check out the colors. I regret only buying one pair for myself! But I did buy several friends Christmas stocking stuffers of these socks. Do yourself a favor and start ordering these....you won't regret it, ... Read More

  • “Are these socks light-weight?”
Asked by Downhiller from Wisconsin on 3/26/2014 12:00:45 PM
    • They are medium weight;. I have these and light weight Smartwool PhD merino wool socks - these are approx 30% heavier than those which are described as light weight.

They are comfortable and do not feel too tight when worn in my ski boots. When I wear the light weight ones, I also wear a silk liner sock.

    • They are ski socks for sure, so I would say mid-weight. I typically sweat in my ski boots and then get cold feet, with these I had no issues and was comfortable all day long.

    • These socks are definitely intended to keep you warm.
I wear them around town under my boots, and my feet stay very warm.
If you are intending to use them for skiing, I think they would fit well under a ski boot. But they are too thick to wear with clogs, for example.

    • The specs on these socks say they are mid-weight sock. They seem not too bulky (I have only seen them on the people I gave them to for gifts) and they have both said they are enjoying them. Both of the recipients are people who are not prone to saying they like gifts that I have given them
(offspring)-- so this is a good sign. Both are also former RISD students but they liked the sock for its warmth as well as the design.

Though I have not worn these exact socks I have purchased mid-weight Smartwools and found them warm enough for most winter days in New England as well as smoother and less annoying in the boot or shoe.

    • I would say more like mid- weight. They fit like you'd expect with a ski sock. They do come all the up to the bottom of the knee.

    • No, they are heavyweight.

    • I guess that depends on what your definition of light-weigh is. In my opinion, they are more toward the heavy weight sock. They are fun.

    • No, I wouldn't say so. Not compared other to SmartWool socks I bought that were listed as lightweight. I would say medium with skier padding.
