Unwearable sock

I've been a fan of "Smartwool" hiking socks since their first launch. However, in the last couple of years this socks have been altered in ways that make them quite uncomfortable. I always buy women's "small", but even the sizing has been changed, so that they are too big for my foot. I tried wearing them on short hikes--I now have 4 pairs of expensive, unwearable socks-- and even then they are uncomfortable. Even the material is different--feels more synthetic--and the socks have a padding that actually adds to discomfort.

When I contacted the "Smartwool" company to inquire whether the original product is still available--I've been darning my old socks for a couple of years now--I was summarily told that the "design" changes every 6 months. What a shame to sacrifice quality and comfort for the sake of novelty. Perhaps these new ones work for others, but I've spent a lot of money on socks I cannot wear. My foot is size 6 and these are definitely too big; they keep bunching up and hurting my feet.

I will have to find a new brand that works since I usually hike about 30 miles a week.
