Verified Buyer Reviewed by LuxuryOfDirt from Oregon on Tuesday, December 13, 2016I bought this for my husband to wear primarily as a base-layer, since after all my raving about the joys of SmartWool he finally agreed to try something besides his usual old cotton ones. It fits him amazingly, and the fabric is stretchy and durable, kind of thicker with a flattering drape to it. He is 5'11" with long arms, slender torso, and broad shoulders--the Medium fits him great. I like that SmartWool makes their products more tailored for an athletic body because it is often difficult to find things that aren't cut very boxy amongst the standard brands (Columbia, etc.). The shirt is very soft and buttery feeling, and he likes how cozy, warm, and dry it keeps him. It looks good enough to wear at the office and actually very classy; you can't tell at all that it's technically meant to be a base-layer. It doesn't have any weird reflective logos or other insignia that some of my IceBreaker clothing does that gives it away as technical fabric. Truly a go-anywhere, do-anything top!!! Personally, I have the women's version of this top in the same thickness (NTS 250 is a wonderful weight, it's heavier than the "lightweight" or 150NTS line which tends to be more gauzy and doesn't drape as nicely. Also, NTS 250 is a great deal warmer for fall and winter. It provides a good deal of insulation in addition to the wicking properties of wool.) and I must say I love mine!! I bought it 3 colors and have been using them for XC skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and it performs beautifully without any warping or pilling of the fabric! I stay bone-dry in them and they are so soft and itch-free. I just have to tell people about wool because for years I suffered with Polyester baselayers because I didn't want to invest the money. I agree that $100+ is a hefty price tag to pay for one of these shirts but with coupons they can get down to around $40, which is a complete steal! Make the splurge, get this shirt. Don't settle for some inferior brand where they call it a "wool blend" fabric, but in reality it's usually a whole lot of sweaty polyester with maybe 10-12% real wool. Worth every penny!

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Bowsermania from Chicago on Saturday, December 10, 2016It's designed to be a base layer, but with a windbreaker over this, I've been very comfortable in below freezing weather cycling. SmartWool is quality stuff, and it was true to size.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by none from ga on Saturday, December 10, 2016Very comfortable, but not warm at all for a midweight, way too expensive for amount of warmth it provides
