I own a few light to medium weight Smartwool and Icebreaker shirts. This one is at the top of my list. The material and style is great. It has a long zipper in front that allows better venting for changing temps and conditions. I use the zipper all the time on trail runs as it goes all the way ... Read More

I bought this for my upcoming trip to Mont Blanc. I was very exited to get it as the reviews were all great and the fit in the picture was what I was looking for. I am 6'2", 180 lbs and more fit than the model pictured and this thing fits me like a tent (size L). The cuffs are baggy, sleeves are long (down to the knuckles), and the waist looks like it would fit someone with a 36+ inch waist. They must have pinned the extra material behind the model for the picture. I'm not sure how these cuffs are considered stay put if they don't actually fit. This would have received only one star if it weren't for the fact that it is incredibly warm sitting in my Villa with the AC on 18. SmartWool redesigned this for 2011 and I think they need to go back to the drawing board.

This SmartWool NTS base layer top is the first piece of clothing I think about on cool days. With a fleece top over it, I am as warm as I need to be. The merino wool makes all the difference! And it is quite comfortable against the skin. I also like not having the thumb holes, as the material doesn't bunch up at the wrists. I love the colors and it just looks good combined with the right shirt or top. The sizing is a bit small. I"m 6'2" and about 185, with about 42" chest and the XL fits great!. Thanks STP for a most excellent price and service as well. I'll be looking to add more excellent SmartWool products!

High quality long underware top. The zipper is covered at the chin and the wool feels high quality. I am 6 ' 2" and the large fits well. No thumb holes if that is your thing.

My husband has 2 of these; he is 6' 1", 170#, the M fit perfectly. They are so good looking they can be worn as outer layer also. The fit is very flattering. Wash & dry beautifully, SmartWool is one of our favorite winter-time brands; if never tried, try, give this & the brand a try.

    • The lightweight does not mean how heavy it is, it refers to the fact that it is a cooler weight. If you're serious about its weight I'll actually weigh it for you.
