These socks are great, just like all of Smart Wool's products. I wanted it to be clear that the socks are not thin, the toe and heal are cushioned with what I would consider to be a medium thickness. They appear thin in the photo. If you want some cushion buy a few pairs if you don't, stay away.

  • “These are "seconds" what exactly does that mean? What's the difference between these and "firsts". Do these have the same warranty as your regular product line?”
Asked by Lou from MA on 7/23/2016 10:33:22 AM
    • I do not know the answer to this question.

    • I didn't notice anything "wrong" with them. A nice, comfortable sock. I wear them in all seasons for cycling, mostly. Don't know about the warranty. I've had them for more than six months, machine wash in cold water, hang dry. They look as good as new.

    • I apologize, but we do not have the exact reason why a manufacturer lists an item as a 2nd. Generally, 2nds are because of minor cosmetic blemishes or irregulars which do not affect the fit, performance, or longevity of the item. Label is usually clipped by the manufacturer. A small flaw means big savings. Yes, they can be returned or exchanged according to our return and exchange policy.

    • If you hover over the "Sizes Available" with your mouse, a tap will appear and provide you with the correct numeric sizing. I hope this helps.

  • “What color are these socks? The photo makes them appear gray or dark blue, but the color is called chestnut.”
Asked by Travel Junkie from Stigler, OK on 4/24/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • In my opinion they are grey, light brown and have a light tan heel.

    • The bottom are like a dirty-straw color with brown accents, the top are white with a brown crosshatch hue and the rest is a deeper brown resembling "chestnut" . All in all very plain but look good, kind of "business-casual" making them great for hiking and then hanging out, shoes off, in front of the fire with the in-laws.

    • Kind of nut brown with maybe some greenish tint thrown in. I like the thickness of these which is about twice the normal thickness for Smartwool. They are on sale quite often. Grab them.
