good for ankle edema

I buy Smartwool socks in the Women's large, even though the sizing charts say I should wear a Medium (I wear a 7.5-8 shoe). The toe area feels constricted with a size medium.

My ankles tend to swell throughout the day due to veinous insufficiency. If I put on these compression socks first thing (before being up on my feet much), they do a good job of supporting and suppressing edema. They are far more comfortable with casual shoes than support stockings and thin nylon support socks, IMO.

I like the merino wool fiber, too, as it doesn't retain odor, is warm without creating "hot" feet, is very comfortable, and doesn't become wet and soggy like cotton socks do.
