seems like it will hold up. i bought XXL and XL thinking my size 45 EU tech ski boots would need the XXL but i was incorrect. XL fits fine. XL also fit my size 12 mountaineering boots. so i returned the XXL - too much slack with the XXL in size 12. my possibly incorrect impression is that these are not quite as good as crampons because the teeth are shorter and they are less adjustable for different size boots (not important to me) and probably will not last as long as crampons. but what is nice is that they easily fit in a little bag that comes with them and they will work on almost any boot so i am thinking for a lot of shoulder season backpacking they might work well. i was on a hike last November in the Sierras they would really have come in handy, a lot of unexpected ice and snow, at least two people fell/slipped on black ice. did not even finish hike to peak. these would have made it ez.
