I carry these for alpine trails that may have some questionable surface conditions. These are also fine for glacier travel, as long as it isn't too steep. I got larges and wear a size 9 Danner boot (Mountain Light II for reference) and they are very snug. Everyone in my family now has a set. I bought my first set for hiking Mt. Whitney at regular price in Lone Pine, and it's a no-brainer to get them for the price they are offered at here.

However, if you are doing mostly flat ice travel, or a combination of snow, ice, and bare rock, you may be better off with something like YakTracks with just the spring wire wrapped around the rubber. These do feel a bit awkward if you get onto rock/pavement with them.
