I took the time to go to the Sorel site and check out their size chart prior to ordering. I wear a true size 7 shoe. In addition to the size chart, they have a fit guide that you can print and stand on to measure your foot. In both cases, it showed my size to be a 6.5 in Sorel sizing. They were righ... Read More

I ended up ordering two pairs of these shoes (in black and brown). I love them both. I really like the look of the boots as its a combo of skate shoe and snow boot. Perfect for those chilly nights at the baseball field! I've received many compliments (and a lot of jealous stares!)
    These boots are great!!!

These boots are great! The most comfortable boot I've ever owned. The only draw back is the laces, I bought dark brown laces- they are 63 inches long and now they are perfect!

I wore these in cold, cold weather in Quebec. Dog sledding, snowshoeing. These are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet. Super cushiony and warm. I never even thought about my feet, and trust me it was frigid.

I almost ordered a half size smaller after reading some reviews. I wear a 7, ordered a 7, and they fit perfectly. Great if you have wide feet which mine sort of are, so perhaps the others had very narrow feet and felt a bit big to them?

I like the look of the boots, my feet stayed totally dry tramping around in snow, and did I mention warm and comfy? You can easily tuck in pant legs before lacing up.

This is exactly what I was looking for. A lightweight, tall, waterproof boot that is also CUTE!

This pair of Sorel boots were supposed to be insulated . They are not as well insulated as another one that I had, similar to this one and which kept my feet warm and dry no matter how high the snow. Although these boots are a little more expensive than the previous ones, they are not waterproof and not so warm because the insole is not well lined.
The size is fine, I can easily pull them on without unlacing them. I still have to wear thick socks in order to have the needed warmth. In conclusion, I am not satisfied with this new pair of boots and I do not think they will last four years like the last ones.

  • “Has anyone applied a spray-on waterproofer such as Scotchguard or similar? I've done that to lots of boots, shoes, bags, etc., and am familiar with the fact that doing so darkens the color and flattens any nap. IF YOU'VE sprayed these boots, did anything else happen? Thanks!”

    • I used Nikwax waterproofing spray on my wife's pair. Once the treatment dried we did not notice problems with the color or texture.

    • It is 14 inches.

  • “Are these fairly serious winter boots, or are they kick-around-town boots? Is the felt liner full length or just the top half? And, they say non-water proof, does that mean wet slushy snow will soak them?”
Asked by Hikin' from Montana on 12/18/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • They have a water resistant upper which would eventually soak through if wet for a long time. The fleece is full length.

  • “Do you think that you could drive in these boots? I have the Helen of the tundra boots and I cannot drive in them. How about these?”
Asked by allie from Steamboat Springs, CO on 11/6/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • The Sorel MacKenzie Lace Boots are not like your typical pair of "wide" Sorel boots, I do not see why you couldn't drive in them.

  • “Do the laces work like as in an sneaker? In other words is the boot open on the top leg part? or is it closed and the laces are just as a decorative. Looking for a boot that is completely closed on the top leg part. Thanks.”
Asked by Anonymous from Unknown on 10/29/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • Great question! Not quite like a sneaker. The tongue is gusseted up to about 7 or 8 inches from the ground. From there, yes the tongue is separate from the side pieces of the boot which overlap it as shown in the photo. This means no gap anywhere near your ankle. But it also means that if you want it looser over your instep, no can do. I have a very high instep and a wide toe area and I was able to slip my foot into this boot without a problem. This is often not true for me. By mistake I ordered two pair and I'm glad I did because on one pair the gusset jabbed into my shin in an unwearable manner. On the other pair this didn't happen.

About Sorel

Canadians know a thing or two about cold weather, so it's not surprising they were behind one of the most popular cold-weather boots ever created. Sorel - founded in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1962 - is perhaps best known for the ubiquitous Caribou, a boot that pioneered the use of a unique material that reflected heat back to the foot. This reflective material was incorporated into Sorel's advanced four-layer construction process that includes a weather-resistant shell, wicking liners and ThermoPlus® felt inner liners to keep feet dry and toasty. Now nearly a century old, Sorel continues to meet the rigorous demands of today's active lifestyles - from snowmobiling to snowshoeing, sledding to skiing - with its highly respected line of footwear and apparel.
