I was searching for these boots, several places were sold out. These are super comfortable and very cute for a winter/rain boot. I love the heel, fashionable for winter weather. The front is rubber, where the back and top look leather.

I bought 2 pair of sorel rain boots, but am only keeping these. The others were also STP, lower top and not as comfortable. These I've already worn 3 times and just got them last week!
Just know that they're tall. The platform on the front helps you from putting too much pressure on your toes, so I wore them the entire day walking around town. Extremely durable and well-made. Very happy with this purchase.

If you are highly adept in walking in these sorts of platform shoes, and you're not buying these boots for WINTER conditions, these are pretty sweet.

I didn't read. I think "winter" when I see the Sorel brand. I bought these to be the oddly fashionable yet, highly functional winter boots. My winters are often snowy/slushy/icy/dangerous. The height of the heel wasn't a huge concern for me because of the platform, but the smaller platform outsole (I don't know how else to describe it) does not provide increased stability in any weather condition...more like opposite of that. Rain, no problem. Potential slick surfaces -- NO WAY -- you're begging for a broken something.

I bought a 9 and they fit great (I usually wear 8.5-9). They are really sharp-looking boots. Unfortunately, I have no need for rain boots in the high mountain deserts.

About Sorel

Canadians know a thing or two about cold weather, so it's not surprising they were behind one of the most popular cold-weather boots ever created. Sorel - founded in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1962 - is perhaps best known for the ubiquitous Caribou, a boot that pioneered the use of a unique material that reflected heat back to the foot. This reflective material was incorporated into Sorel's advanced four-layer construction process that includes a weather-resistant shell, wicking liners and ThermoPlus® felt inner liners to keep feet dry and toasty. Now nearly a century old, Sorel continues to meet the rigorous demands of today's active lifestyles - from snowmobiling to snowshoeing, sledding to skiing - with its highly respected line of footwear and apparel.
