"Mom Jeans"

I should have realized when I read the description that these would be "Mom Jeans" - flubsy, soft fabric with a cut like sweats and a bunchy elastic waist with a very high rise. Cut would have made all the difference - a flatter waistband and less gathering there would make these perfect, awesome soft casual pants. As it is I look like I'm carrying an extra 10 pounds in all the wrong places as soon as I pull these on.

In their defense the fabric is very soft and light, super comfortable to wear. I suppose there is a place and a use for sweats that look like corduroy. They're cheap enough that I will use mine to clean house in and not worry about ruining them. For that use their comfort and stretchability will be an asset, as with sweatpants. But frankly I wouldn't wear these out of the house.

As to size, I normally wear an 8-10 depending on brand. The large was miles too big for me, the medium still rather loose. Perhaps the small might have looked trimmer but I thought the elastic might be uncomfortable in that size.
