Verified Buyer Reviewed by GoBruins from So Cal on Monday, July 17, 2017I'm not a Salmon fisherman. I use this rod for surf casting on the West Coast for perch, etc.
I've noticed that Salmon rods have very soft tips. I've been told that Salmon have soft mouths and the tips need to be soft as a result.
I bought the Heavy model on a hunch (15-25 / 1-6 oz). With specs like that, I'm used to heavy action rods that are right for *big* gamefish like Yellowtail and maybe small Tuna. Well, it turned out to be exactly the right rod for throwing up to 2 oz lead. Honestly, I have no idea how a tall, whippy rod like this would be able to handle anything close to 6 oz. or anything. 2 oz. would be the max end of anything I'd throw with this rod.
Anyhow, it turned out to be exactly the right rod for my application, which is surf casting. The rest of the rod is typical TFO quality, which is very good.

Reviewed by BadStud from Umpqua, Oregon on Thursday, May 11, 2017I wasn't sure what I was getting because the description is for a stiff carbon fiber rod with a lot of backbone and I assume it's going to make a good float/drift rod but the tip action might be soft enough to allow for a multi-purpose boat rod, too.
