My size is just between s and m, and last time I thought a snug fit would be better so I chose size s. But I found that m works much better: it's still nicely snug, so great for layering, but it's longer, which is great for the sleeves, and for keeping the shirt from creeping up beneath the outer layer. I'm not sure yet how warm it'll keep me when it gets really cold, but it's really comfortable. Just wish someone had checked the craftsmanship - one of 2 shirts ordered was open at the side seam. I'll sew it up which seems less of a hassle than sending it back and forth for an exchange.
