Perfect if you demand stretch

Opinions on clothing are so subjective, I find most of them pointless. So, I will attempt to make this somewhat objective. Two things make this base layer stand out from most others, including others from Terramar. One is it's constructed with 14% spandex which makes it extremely stretchy, far more than 100% polyester tops. Spandex isn't light so this top weighs a couple of ounces more than an equivalent all-polyester top. For most folk that's no big deal. I find the 'feel' superb, it's soft against the skin and it slides under mid-layers fairly well (sleeves have thumb holes which helps). The second thing is the 'cut' of the pattern. Since it's so stretchy, the cut is one size smaller than an equivalent Terramar top. Terramar 'Mediums' fit me perfect, I prefer a snug, but not tight fit like cycling tops. I found the medium in this top too tight for my preference, exchanged for a 'large', and the large fits perfect. The cut is virtually identical to a medium "Helix" top. Compared to the 'Helix' this fabric seems to be half again as thick, but way denser. The upper back panel is perforated fabric - identical to the Helix except it seems to have a bit more stretch. Wicking, warmth, construction, durability etc. is no better, no worse than the big name brands, but price is unbeatable. I gave if four stars only because it's relatively heavy. I count my ounces for long-distance backpacking so this particular top will not be accompanying me on those trips, but for cold-weather day trips or just wearing around the house, it's a winner.
