Nice shoe, but a few problems

I like the looks of these shoes very much, but they're not without problems.I usually wear an 8 1/2, but after reading reviews, I ordered a size 9. After first putting them on I wondered if perhaps I should have ordered a 9 1/2. Upon closer look, I noticed what the problem is.... the heel bulges out so much in the back that one can't put one's heel all the way back in the shoe, thus your foot is forced forward making it feel like the shoe is way too small. I'm hoping to be able to stretch the top edge of the shoe to alleviate some of this problem. We'll see if that works. Otherwise, I'd not recommend them unless your heel stick out unusually far in the back. Other reviews complained about the shoes being tight across the instep. This actually is an advantage for me as I have a "low-volume" (but not narrow) foot. Two other things: If you are looking for a comfy, soft shoe this is not it. The uppers are a bit stiff and the insoles firm. Overall, I'd judge these shoes not up to Teva's usual good quality.
