Great camping griddleVerified Buyer Reviewed by Suza from Oregon on Friday, May 26, 2017Lightweight and easy clean up make this a great camping griddle. Used it on our small RV two burner stove. Put silicone hot pads under the legs as they rested on the counter top. Unfortunately, the griddle covers the burner control knobs, so it is difficult to adjust heat; not perfect, but it works. Would do better on a camp stove, for which I think it is intended.
Heat distribution is pretty good - takes a bit longer to heat up than a cast iron griddle. The grease gutter works well and has plenty of capacity to hold bacon drippings from 6 slices of bacon. Non-stick surface makes it easy to clean up.
I give it a 4 only because I would prefer it not have the grill ridges on the left side and it isn't perfect for use on our small RV stove. I wish someone make a smaller griddle for these smaller stoves.
Might be easily brokenVerified Buyer Reviewed by Suza from Oregon on Sunday, May 21, 2017This griddle is light weight, which is what I wanted for our small motorhome. However, the first one I ordered arrived damaged; the entire back rim was cracked and separated from the griddle, making it unusable since grease from cooking would leak out onto the stove. I expect it was damaged in shipping, due to poor packaging. The griddle is not packaged in it's own box, just a light cardboard sleeve around the middle 2/3. Another item in the box was unpackaged also, allowing it to rattle around. The box was quite a bit bigger than the items, probably the only choice to fit the size of this griddle. The items were not tightly packed, with only a few plastic air pillows. The griddle does come in a heavy plastic bag which protects the non-stick finish, otherwise it would have been scratched since the other item in the box had metal parts. The best solution would be for STP to package this griddle separately.
STP replaced the item and did not request that I return the damaged one, since the cost to return was nearly the cost of the item. The replacement griddle, packaged alone, arrived undamaged, still in the larger box. With no other items to batter it, the griddle survived the trip.
My only concern is that the lightweight material will not cook as well as the cast iron griddle we also have. I expect it to be less durable and prone to breaking if dropped; will handle with care. The trade off is a lighter weight for carrying in the motorhome and the close-out price plus 25% off makes it very economical.
It looks like it will function well. There is a large depression in one corner to catch grease and the non-stick surface will make clean up easy. I will have the opportunity to try it out on the motorhome stove in a couple of days.
