Very comfortable... not so durable in the long run.

These boots are extremely comfortable right out of the box. Don't need a long break in time like some heavier duty hiking boots. The leather is nice and so far has held up pretty well. I can say I was caught in a couple of pretty good rain storms in these boots and they were no where near what I expected as waterproof. My feet were soaked by the time I walked the dogs home. Not like I was fully submerged in water either. I am not so concerned with the waterproofness as the soft soles. I have had these boots for almost 2 winters. I wear them almost daily but only for an hour or two out on our walks around town. The soles absorb water and wear fast. If it weren't for a great deal at STP I would be very unhappy. Thankfully they can be resoled with some better soles and will hopefully last a long time. I sure wouldn't want to pay retail for these and have to resole them a year later. I expect better from a company like The North Face.
