While I have yet to understand the value of the Dots, the fit is perfect, the quality is what I expect from the NF. The pit zips are going to be good enough for late season skiing. I have some doubts about warmth in the Cold Storm part. I have other HyVent gear with a light fleece liner that works, but it is a pain to change when being active. Gear by a famous C brand vents well, but will not hold up in an all day rain if that happens. With Hy Vent, I may even wear this in AK under another rain parka and layer up and down as needed, but staying dry in the boat.

I have several North Face Fuseform Dot Matrix jackets (some that are down-filled). This jacket is not quite as warm as a 700 filled down version, but quite warm nonetheless. It would definitely keep a person warm in 25 - 30 Fahrenheit temps. I really like the material of these jackets. They seem quite strong (to withstand tears). They fit very nicely (not real loose around the torso). I highly recommend this jacket.

About The North Face

Believe it or not, The North Face story didn’t begin on a high-altitude ascent. It actually began in San Francisco at less than 200 feet above sea level. However, what started as a neighborhood mountaineering shop has since evolved into an industry-leading, award-winning outdoor equipment and apparel brand. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, The North Face has grown to include clothing and gear designed for nearly every type of adventure, from alpine skiing to backpacking to trail running. Today, The North Face jackets and pants are chosen by world-class athletes, and The North Face rugged boots help carry explorers through the toughest terrain, from the icy slopes of Everest to Utah’s Green River basin.
