Awesome coat(s) for the price and even better on clearance. It is important to note that this is really two separate jackets rather than a functional 3-in-1 as the inner liner does not zip in and there are only two snaps holding the liner in at the cuff.

  • Coming in with flaws

I purchased this jacket for my first ski trip (yes, I am an adult wearing kid-size jacket). I learnt from earlier reviews that the fleece layer is not zipped to the shell, which does not bother me too much so I went ahead and ordered it. On the day before we left for the ski trip, as we were packing things up, my husband noticed two holes (but I hadn't even worn it yet by then) on the lower right side of the fleece (the fleece does not have pockets). It was too late to return it or to get a new one at that time so I had to wear it at the ski resort. It was warm enough but I did come to realize the inconvenience due to the fleece not zipping to the shell. Moreover, the pink fabric of the fleece layer kept coming off and sticking to the clothes underneath the jacket. This made me look like a pink fluffy monster each time I took off the jacket wearing only the sky bib and sweatshirt while staying indoor.
  • This jacket is an awful concept

This jacket was ill conceived and poorly executed. The inner fleece is very thin and combined with the outer shell is not good enough for cold weather at all. It would be best used in the early fall and again in spring. Definitely not in the winter. The worst part is that the inner fleece does not zip in - it is literally only connected by the two snaps that hold the sleeves at the cuff. That's it. Nothing at the neck and nothing on either zipper inside. So it's like you are putting two thin coats on at the same time. For my 11 year old this does not work and we sent it back. I gave it 2 stars because it is North Face and will keep the elements off of you outside. But short of that it is a terrible idea for a kid and not like a real 3-in-1 jacket that you would expect to use in the winter.

  • Jackets don't zip together
Reviewed by PQ from VA from Virgina on Sunday, November 12, 2017
I am appalled that a company l assumed would be high quality is so badly designed--this coat is a lovely color--but my daughter doesn't even want to wear it because it is such a pain. The two jackets come apart and separate because they don't zip together. Now I am wondering what other technical failures we will discover when she tries to wear it skiing or something.
  • Don't bother. Buy Marmot instead.
Reviewed by Geoff W. from Central NY on Wednesday, November 8, 2017
My daughter deplores this jacket. The liner does not zip in, it just attaches in the sleeves. Very strange. Buy a Marmot instead. She has worn a Marmot for years and it had to be replaced because she outgrew it.

About The North Face

Believe it or not, The North Face story didn’t begin on a high-altitude ascent. It actually began in San Francisco at less than 200 feet above sea level. However, what started as a neighborhood mountaineering shop has since evolved into an industry-leading, award-winning outdoor equipment and apparel brand. Since its inception more than 40 years ago, The North Face has grown to include clothing and gear designed for nearly every type of adventure, from alpine skiing to backpacking to trail running. Today, The North Face jackets and pants are chosen by world-class athletes, and The North Face rugged boots help carry explorers through the toughest terrain, from the icy slopes of Everest to Utah’s Green River basin.
