These are not boots that I would ordinarily buy for myself, as my job doesn't require the sort of outdoor work these boots are made for. My birthday was coming up and I like to treat myself. I'm glad these are what caught my eye.

It's -2F with a windchill of -25, today. I just got in from walking my dog and am happy to report that my feet did not get cold at all. I wore one pair of Smartwool hiking socks that are at least 10 years old. They're good quality socks, but thinned somewhat from wear. In other words, these boots are reliably warm. They're also much easier to get around in than my super thick Sorels which are what I would have needed to wear today had I not had these.

These are not outdoor work boots for me, so I can't comment from that perspective, but I don't see how they wouldn't be excellent boots for those who work outdoors during the colder months. I'm not sure about summer months. They might be great, depending on breathability. Check other reviews for that feature. If I had to guess, I'd say they would breathe just fine in the hotter climates and seasons, as they are mostly leather.

Perfect right out of the box. Very comfortable, no inserts needed. Superb construction and extremely stable. I am very hard on boots and I could tell immediately that these boots are going to last for a long time.

About Timberland

The Timberland footwear brand was officially launched in 1973, more than two decades after founder Nathan Swartz bought an interest in an established shoe company. Eight years earlier, the Swartz family had introduced injection-molding technology to the footwear industry. Today, this revolutionary manufacturing process is still being used to fuse the soles and uppers of Timberland boots without stitching, a process that allows for truly waterproof boots. Over the years, Timberland shoes and boots have continued to advance, incorporating modern features like Active Comfort Technology to provide a balance of cushioning, support and climate control. In 2008, Timberland also became the first footwear company to commercialize the use of rubber from recycled tires.
