I have another Timbuk2 backpack, and love it. Used for work (computer) and as camera bag. I was constantly switching the gear back and forth, so decided to just get another, and purchased this one. It's not even in the same league as the first. The laptop compartment is internal, and has no additional padding. My other one is in the back, with a separate zippered, padded compartment. The bottom section on this on is useless if you have much inside the main compartment, and that sits "on top" of the section access with that lower zipper.

The materials also don't seem to be up to the same standard.

I guess the net net, if you're going to get a Timbuk2 bag, get one of the expensive ones.

I have owned a lot of Timbuk2 products over the years and always love their quality, durability, and inventiveness. This backpack is no different, sporting a range of pockets and an inside organizer to ensure a home for everything. I have read some reviews about the straps pinching the neck, but I do not have this problem at all (I have a smaller neck (15 1/2 dress shirt) but I'm a tall guy and not a small person). I think it's just a matter of adjusting the arm straps properly.

I liked the look and profile of this pack but as soon as I put it on I knew it had to go back. The way it's constructed, the shoulder straps severely pinched my neck which made it very uncomfortable. Maybe if you have a really thin neck it wouldn't be a problem.

About Timbuk2

Originally created in 1989 by a San Francisco bike messenger named Rob Honeycutt, the Timbuk2 messenger bag is still an iconic example of entrepreneurial spirit and innovation. Easily recognized by the rugged, stylish design, Timbuk2 bags were initially made to order in Honeycutt’s basement before the company opened its first shop three years later. Timbuk2’s signature three-panel, tri-color design and “Build Your Own Bag” order form first debuted in 1994 and remain extremely popular today. After more than two decades, this brand still constantly evaluates its products for performance, durability and environmental impact, ensuring that all Timbuk2 messenger bags, backpacks, laptop bags and accessories are held to the highest possible quality standards.
